Around 1930, Petrus Maria de Wit and his family left Landsmeer for Amsterdam to take over a moving company.
The moving company in Amsterdam was founded in 1923. From February 1, 1931 the name became PM de Wit and sons. The moving company slowly but surely grew into a renowned recognized mover on the Amsterdam moving market.
In the sixties, Petrus Maria transferred the business to his 3 sons, Nico, Piet and Jan. They further built up the moving company and sold the company to Jan de Wit (grandson) and Richard Combee in 1987. In 2018, Richard's 2 sons, Mike and Jeffrey Combee, took over their father's business. Jan de Wit is still active in the moving company and enjoys speaking to his customers every day.
The way of working has changed considerably over the past almost 100 years. In the early years, packing was still done with newspapers, but nowadays solid moving boxes and packing materials are used. The moving storage is secured, heated and well insured. We offer our storage in Amsterdam with a flexible contract duration and you can rent a space from 1.50 euros per day!
