History Moving Company Amsterdam - Fa. PM de Wit & Zn
Around 1930, Petrus Maria de Wit and his family left Landsmeer for Amsterdam to take over a moving company there.
The moving company in Amsterdam was founded in 1923. From February 1st, 1931 the name became: Fa. PM de Wit and sons. The moving company slowly but surely grew into a renowned, recognized mover on the Amsterdam moving market.
In the sixties, Petrus Maria handed over the business to his 3 sons, Nico, Piet and Jan. They continued to build up the moving company and handed over the company in 1987 to Jan de Wit (grandson) and Richard Combee. In 2018, Richard's 2 sons, Mike and Jeffrey Combee, took over their father's business. Jan de Wit is still active in the moving company and enjoys talking to his customers every day.
The way of working has changed considerably in the past 80 years. In the early years, people were still packing with newspapers, but nowadays use is made of solid moving boxes and packing materials. While a removal van, a few boxes and a rope with a block used to be sufficient, today Moving Company Amsterdam - Fa. PM de Wit & Zn has a warehouse in Amsterdam for the storage of your household effects or art with a capacity of more than 5000 m³, several trucks, different types of removal lifts and many more tools to take care of your removal.
Our storage space in Amsterdam is easily accessible and you can park for free, which is not possible in many places anymore in Amsterdam. The removal storage is secured, heated and well insured. We offer our storage in Amsterdam with a flexible contract duration and you can rent a space from 1 euro per day!
